Having fun attempting a photoreal character, and this guy was the result.
The Medusa Nodes and TrimFlow addons were used for this project and were super helpful.
Thanks, guys!!!
I featured you on BlenderNation, have a great weekend!
Very nice done! Beautiful face. ![]()
Personally, I find his uniform a bit too clean. That bothers me a bit, especially in contrast with his weathered face.
But it is possible of course. It depends on what story you want to tell, right?
Nice portrait! ![]()
I wanted his uniform to look pristine for a portrait shot, but I probably should have added more weathering for realism. I enjoyed working on the head but I got lazy on the clothes
.
Thanks for the input.
Yes, I understand what you mean. Blender projects take a lot of time, there is a lot to learn and it requires a lot of work. After a while you get a bit fed up and want to start something new. I often have that too…
That’s why I sometimes do the things first that I think I won’t add otherwise. I save the most important for last (the head of the character). When I’m done with that, all I have to do is render.
Mission accoplished!
Great work, although I second MxD’s remark on the uniform.
greetings, Kologe
I’m always in awe of works like this—so much effort went into it!
Amazing!!!

loving the detail, hats off!
looks nice , but I think the SSS needs an intensity map, as it has this blanket SSS look( I guess you used the skin option) which I think is waay too strong
Wow! The eyes look so… alive! Eyes in 3D often look dead and you really nailed them and the rest.
Thanks for the feedback
Whoa how is this not a photograph?! The tired yet intense eyes make for a perfect commander, amazing!!
Thanks so much for the kind words ![]()
Really good work; he reminds me a bit of Tim McInnerny. ![]()
I jus looked him up, and I can see the resemblance ![]()
