The librarian is a fun character I did in Blender. In the video below there is a full timelapse of the creation of this character and i also covered the topic on how Blender affects your chances of being hired in the industry. Enjoy!
How much of your skills are in drawing? Did you start to draw anatomically correct people before you started with 3D or did you go all the way with 3D from the beginning?
I feel many are thinking wrong when skipping drawing just to go directly on 3D but I could be wrong of course.
Thanks, and here are my answers to your questions:
Nope, not every artist is looking for a job, i don’t for example.
Because some of us want to do art for a living, if Blender is out first choice of program it is only natural to ask this question.
You can do Blender for whatever purpose you want, but think of it this way. If you want to spend every minute doing art, then wouldn’t it be smart to find a job doing art too? After all, most people spend most of their time working to make a living.
Yes, it is being done as we speak, been so for a long time i believe.
Not sure if i understand this one, i guess it would depend on the tool.
Can’t answer questions for the Blender Foundation, i am not part of it
Same, a question meant for the Blender Foundation.
I started with 3D but realized that drawing is important, i draw now as well. I think people will give you different answers for this one, i say learn to draw.
Nice work as always Yan! I’m really glad you’re so open with your workflow and willing to answer questions. One time you recommended the book Classic Human Anatomy, and I have since gotten the book and have been studying and drawing from the book every day, and I certainly would not be doing this if it weren’t for you. I hope to be half as skilled as you one day!
