The Lord of Lies

A little project that I created for myself. I have not really done any UVs, or texture work before, so my intent here is to work on those skills. I plan on sculpting this to highest level of detail that I can, then create a low poly version, make UV map, bake a normal map, hand paint the textures. You know all the things that I never do, so that this is a skill building exercise.

This sculpt has a little over 8 million poly. I finally broke symmetry when I was working on it last night. I still haven’t decided what the top and back of the head should look like. There are some weird symmetry artifacts on the top of the head that I haven’t fixed yet.

Any tips, tricks, comments, criticisms are always welcome. Thanks for looking!

Here is a “low poly” version. I used Quad Remesh to knock it down to 110K polys.

Here is the UV map. Some of the cuts are a bit weird, because of the topology from Quad Remesh.

Here is the same model after baking the normal map. I keep getting some artifacts, as you can see under the tongue.
