2mins 49 secs. Ryzen 1700X @3.70 GHz. standard 16x16 tile settings. Win 10 64bit.
2mins 01 secs GTX 1070 stock.

I see that Linux wipes the floor with Windows render performance. But the question i have is would that extra CPU utilization lock up my system whilst rendering? i like to carry on multi tasking or working in another instance of blender whilst rendering. I wouldn’t switch to linux if that was the compromise.

Hi, thanks for performing the benchmark. Please, share GPU result in this other thread but using the file that is shared there:

It is the same benchmark file, but with tile size configured for GPU. You remember to use official Blender 2.79 (not from buildbot / master)

Arch Linux
i7-4770K stock frequency

  • 16GB Dual-channel DDR3 1600MHz (I think it also matters in such tests)

@Thesonofhendrix No, we can use our Linux without lags while rendering on CPU. Mine lags however while I render on GPU.

Windows 10 Pro

There gotta be a mistake I’m third fastest of all. I’m faster than a Threadripper and a dual Intel Xeon?
I have Windows10 64
Dual GTX1060 3GB
Render Time 01:33

Ryzen 2700X @ 3.85 peak 2:42:17

@DragonSkunk2, Here is the benchmark for GPU (remember to use official Blender releases and the file that appears there):

@ajarosz, Thanks. Since you commented on another thread you have used Blender from buildbot, could you confirm that you perform the benchmark with official Blender 2.79 (2.79, 2.79a, 2.79b) release? (not from buildbot).

Yes, that was my time with 2.79b official. With master build I have 2:02. So yes… and no. :stuck_out_tongue: With newer BIOS and thermal compund I got 2:33:63 with 2.79b official build (Ryzen 2700x @4.0Ghz).

With the CPU benchmark file the time is:

5:19.20 (16 tiles)
5:19.00 (64 tiles)

On official 2.79b build? I have Ryzen 2700x and I get around 2:30 and with daily master I got around 2 minutes, just like you. Here is topic only for official Blender releases.

yes, official 2.79b

version: 2.79 (sub 0), branch: master, commit date: 2018-03-22 14:10, hash: f4dc9f9d68b, type: Release
build date: 2018-03-22, 14:39:03

could you post a link to the daily master? i would try it too

Daily build is on https://builder.blender.org/download/
Hmm that’s strange.
On Ryzen 2700X @4,1GHz with official build I’m not able to get less than 2:28… What’s you clock speed?
