The Parthenon 3D

Hello all,
I recently finished my PhD which worked on reconstructing the Parthenon, the famous temple of the goddess Athena in the Acropolis of Athens.

I used Blender for the modelling and texturing, and for the rendering of the images that appeared in the final publication, which you can read at the Annual of the British school of Athens if you are interested.

The idea of the research was to understand how much light was inside the temple, particularly considering the colossal 12-metres high statue made of gold and ivory that stood in the interior. But the interior was too big, and logically, it felt it would be too dark too. I was able to reveal that indeed it was a very dark space, but the reflective qualities of both gold and ivory made the statue look as if it emerged from the enshrouding darkness of the temple.

Comments and feedback welcome! I added a video below too, which was made with unreal engine rendering, as I am hoping to take this to a VR experience. Seeking funding at the moment
