The Special One

Going for realism with this one. Any critiques?

This looks amazing! Love the soft lighting and micro imperfections along the edges of the minifgure and the ground.

I would probably add some sort of cavity/bevel mask to add some dust in the crevices and maybe a grunge alpha overlay on the textures to give it some wear, but otherwise it’s fantastic!

Thanks! Did you notice the torso crack under the arm socket?

I’ve been experimenting with the Mecabricks shaders, it’s a bit difficult to edit them because of how many node groups there are.

Dang! I hadn’t noticed that. I thought it was part of the decal and not actual geometry (unless it is a normal map of sorts).

The node groups may be a maze of sorts, but they are quite helpful as all node edits are linked across all the parts in the scene.

I feel like the film grain might be a bit too strong, unless you’re going for an analog film look (instead of digital), in which case maybe there should be a bit more vignetting, halation, color grading, etc.
But overall I’m pretty sold on the photorealism : D

that looks really nice! Just curious, what focal size did you use?

I featured you on BlenderNation, have a great weekend!
