First I’m gonna print it in Metallic Plastic, for testing purposes and because it’s cheaper. Then, after callibrating the size and elliminating possible errors, maybe in metal.

looks cool, where are you getting the print from?
One thing I can tell you is the finish of the real object won’t be as nice as in your renders. Striation, etc.
But, it’s a cool project. Will be interested to see the print.

I’m getting my print from Shapeways. The loss of details is something I reckon with (is that how you say it?). Therefore I’m especially curious for the first print.

Update
The testprint arrived.
I learned a new thing: I’m not a fan of polished metallic plastic.
It doesn’t look like something metallic at all 
and the surface is too rough (and it sucks to photograph)
The level of detail is nearly the same as with polished metall… I’m not sure if it’s too small? I guess I’m gonna make it bigger.
The surface is probably not flat enough. But other than that it looks amazing. Really cool
