The Work Shop rendered in cycles

Here is an image I created this Saturday. I actually onw this building and my tenant would like to make a loft addition to the current structure. Everything that sits on the wooden beams in the center, including the beams, will be the new addition. I created this image so my tenant and I can discuss what her needs are for the loft and get a visualization before construction begins. This was rendered in cycles and eveything is created to scale. I still have to do a lot more texturing to finish out the design.

It always helps to previsualize construction projects like this. What will the new additional space be used for?

Currently the tenant lives above the two offices to the right. She has a closet, dressers, night stands and a couple lamps up there. The bottom floor is where she designs and sews custom bikinis for fitness and model competitions. The room on the far left is the fitting room. With the addition, we plan on making the area above the fitting room a walk in closet and then the rest of the upper area will be for her bedroom and living.

Is working to scale easy in Blender these days, any tips??

I’m still have trouble with the metric system since all my life I grew up using standard. But I found that having Google readily available on another screen with the conversions up makes it a pretty quick process. For a scene like this I start out with the floor plan and then go from there. In this case I have the blueprints of the building so modeling to scale is pretty simple. A hint on modeling smaller object or weirdly shaped object is to model within a bounding box.

I got what was intended with the first image but now I have decided to just further develop it for fun. Looking for some feedback.
