The X-STATION handheld

Made for an art-jam on Itch

The goal was to design a non-existing, handheld console so I wanted to make something that looks like an early 80’s handheld (coiled cord and all baby!). My goal wasn’t to make something pretty but rather something that a product designer at a company akin to Tiger Electronics could potentially have dreamt up after a weekend coke-bender in the 80’s/early 90’s

Besides the video game being displayed on the console screen, all the other shaders are procedural

I decided to go for a ultra-worn look despite changing my mind while setting up the shots to do something more like a product/ad render. So here are 4 full-page magazine spreads!

The X-STATION is on sale now, just not in this universe! And always read the fine-print before making a purchase no matter how good of a deal it seems to be

I also made the little game screen using a froggo from my other projects!

I ended up running the image through a colorramp and multiplied the colors with a non-random Voronoi texture to get something that I think looks way more interesting

really nice, i think the textures turned out really nice. I also like the presentation on the first render, just as if i am watching an ad for this product.

Always read the warning label before using your X-STATION handheld

Thanks!
The intent was to look like a “real” ad in a magazine so I’m glad that came through

A story in two parts

I featured you on BlenderNation, have a great weekend!
