Saw this watch some time ago on YT and couldn’t resist modelling it. Rendered in Cycles, PS+AI for textures.
The rear lit one is so very nice!
Any chance for a wireframe? Was it difficult to model all the mechanical parts? Did you use any add-ons for it?
I agree with @eobet, the one with the backlighting is hands down my favorite. The blues and yellows gel nicely, and it’s a well lit scene overall.
If I would have one suggestion is that the main outer ridge (I don’t know if I’m expressing correctly, the thing that is catching the highlights in the last picture) could use a little more detail. It looks almost too clean, and some edges to create little pieces of contrast throughout the highlight could benefit the whole picture. Just something to maybe keep in mind!
Otherwise, stellar work!
Wireframe for this is pretty awful (welp, more like just awful), I decided to prioritize the completion of the project over the model being perfect. This project was pretty diffucult mainly because of the lack of good top-down/side-view photos and the pure amount of various cogs (yes, all of the cogs have the exact number of ‘teeth’ as the real thing). As for plugins, I didn’t use any for modelling nad used Qdenoise for denoising instead of the AI denoiser. This is probably why I’m now focusing on adding hardOps / looptools to my workflow, to maybe speed things up for future projects.
Thanks and yes you’re right - nothing is really this smooth in reality. The distortion in reflections can be clearly seen here on a photo:
It just slipped my mind (no project is ever really done!)
You’re on the #featured row!
This is amazing, love the color tone!
Awesome! Thank you!
“Holy — !!”
That 3rd image with the blue reflections is so nice! THat would looks lovely with big fat Bokeh and an animation
Brilliant, I posted it on a steampunk group, I am sure they will love it!
The 3rd render from the top with the internal black lighting is amazing!
Really good job! Did you animate it by chance?
I featured you on BlenderNation, have a great weekend
Amazing presentation, fabulous lighting and shiny design
WOW!! There’s some real talent in that!
I’ve never been able to make complex stuff, it always looked like garbage. Actually garbage probably looked better.
Wow love it, fantastic work!
