I am working on this WW2 Tompson and I am having smoothin problems. I set smooth to the butt, but as you can see I got these black splotches on it. What is wrong with that?

Have you checked the face normals with double sided turned off? CTRL + N might do the trick. Also check for “twisted” faces.

Here is a update. I haven’t worked on it much lately. C&C would be helpful.

It looks good so far. I would suggest changing the background color to a lighter color and adding a little more light.

All of the wood needs to be rounder. It’s pretty good though.
