Topology of an object with many curved surfaces

I am a beginner who started learning 3d modeling about 2 months ago. I am creating an old Japanese dial phone.

I have been able to create the overall shape but am having trouble with the topology.

How can I add support edges to selected locations in the photo?

Also, I know that it is not a good topology as it has a lot of triangles. How can I improve it?

Welcome :tada:

…it might be better to use shape like this (maybe even with less subdiv) to get the general shape…

because you have already made some triangles in this early stage of modeling ( this kind you choosed ay be acceptabel later)…

Simple shapes are very helpful. Thank you very much.

However, I find it difficult to create an object with many shapes (curved, flat, circle, etc.) in one part with a subdivision surface. As I add more and more details, the flow of the edges becomes uncontrollable and I cannot get a smooth surface.

Does practice solve these problems? Or is there a better workflow?

You can refer to the video for appropriate production methods

Another way is to model the current modeling as close to completion as possible and then optimize it into a repository.

It’s the holy grail of modeling… and i will never get tired linking this wiki.polycount Subdivision_Surface_Modeling or this thread beeing up 2008… (even from another forum  )

Thank you for the information! I will refer to it!
