train window int.

my attempt to re-create one of the wallpapers that comes with vista. I think I will add some luggage, etc. after I get the overall look down pat. I might experiment with some film grain in post pro. please give any comments and critique!

Thanks,
CGuy

Looks good! But in the reflection you can see like 6 lights on the ceiling. They look good but makes it seem like the train is like 20 feet wide and I don’t think there is one that long! Other then that it looks great!

image doesn’t show up for me…

hmm, wierd… I’m rendering a new version now which I’ll upload soon.
the original picture is attached.

Thanks for the feedback, Dudebot! there are an excess of lights. I removed three rows of lights, so it doesn’t look half as large. I also scaled up the texture on the floor. I’ll post the new render shortly.

updated. I added trim to the back of the seats, vertical support on train wall with clothes hook, increased the scale of the floor texture, changed the shade of the ledge and the baseboard to add some contrast.

now I’m trying to come up with a unique twist to this. maybe a dramatic camera angle? an object on the seat? a cool title? any ideas are welcome.

Thanks,

surely someone had a snack and left the wrapper. Someone else forgot their cell phone. someone else jotted a note on the wall. and the seats have been sat on, so they have wrinkles where the fabric has stretched. and the glass is a little dirty.

The lights look much better and floors look great too! Maybe you could have some containers on the ceiling near the window. You know, like in airplanes. I have never been in a train so I don’t know if they are in them too but you could put luggage in it also! It would also be sweet to have some sort of lake or river scene out the window or something like that. Maybe even some passengers sitting on the seats whether in the foreground or the background. Hey its you render, do what ever you want. It looks awesome so far!

@ PapaSmurf: I’m trying to keep this one fairly clean. I’d rather not add anything unless it directly contributes to the scene. I may experiment, but we’ll see.

@Dudebot13: thanks! luggage racks are a very interesting idea. I will experiment with that. instead of that I could also put a suitcase under the seat. maybe a briefcase on the seat with a sticker that says “if found, please return to owner”. I found that I can change the entire look of the scene by changing the view out the window. I can make it urban, country, futuristic, or even Space just by changing the view! seeing as a full quality render takes an hour, I’ll back off on a few settings and do some test renders for y’all later.

thanks for all your input!

Cool. I think that the briefcase idea would be cool! What are you using to render it anyways? Looks like you have a lot of control over the landscape. Should look really cool at the final render!

I am using YafRay GI to render. it is a long rendertime, but I’m in no hurry, so it’s ok. the landscape is simply a texture on a plain. if I change the texture and tweak the lights, it’s a whole new image. I’ll be working on restoring an old picture in Photoshop for a client this evening, so I may not be able to do much more with it tonight, but I’ll get some more renders up soon.

Thanks again!
