hi everyone,
i want to make some cage bars for a game, so i need them to be transparent inbetween the bars, im uv texturing them but i dont know how to create an image ( in paint shop pro ) that will have the transparent areas where i need them, or do i have to do this in blender.
im just too confused!
it’s quite simple to make transparent or translucent images.
Start a new image with a transparent background add a new layer or
paint inside selections, do your texture job (well, to do bars, you do vertical
lines with a gradient maybe), let the space between bars trasparent, and
when done, flat the image and save it in TGA format in 32 bits.
Load the image in Blender’s UV editor apply the texture to the desireded
faces and enable the Alpha button
That’s all
Is this clear?
António
I don’t think you can do multi-layers in paint shop pro (not in the old version I’ve got anyway ), but you can make transparent textures in it by doing all the bits you want transparent in black, then go to Mask>New and select ‘any non-zero value’.
Thanks for all the help!
I tried making different layers and followed oto’s instructions but i got confused when you said ‘flat the image’ , my paint shop pro merges the image when i save it. have tried to download gimp aswell but my net connections not too stable so i cant finish the 15mb download.
rep
some problems??
Well soft actions differ in name but do the same almost all the
time. Paint Shop is a great tool so i guess that it means the same
The important thing when you “flat” or “merge” the layers is, that the only
remaniant one it’s or have transparent areas(with the little gray squares aparent).
If you download with Mozilla 1.2 just click over the Gimp link again and
it will start at the stop point.
If not get a “donwload” soft before trying to get such a big file.
Bye
