Tristram (Diablo)

I started making this 3D model of the old good Tristram village from the game Diablo. This is my progress so far.
Advices and critics are welcome.

This post will be edited with the newest updates.

Never play diablo but it looks like nice

I have just finished Adria’s hut .These are not too much detailed models because I plan to make this playable. Just walking around Tristram and talking to the townspeople .

I’m now modeling the Tristram church,as soon as I finish it I’ll post the renders here.

These are the references that I’m using for the church. I drew the front and side view blueprints. They are not perfect but enough for me.

I used this picture also http://diablo.judgehype.com/screenshots/divers/tristram-ulmo.jpg
It was the reference for everything I’ve done. I’ll upload the first renders of the Church very soon…

Thie first picture was rendered in Perspective camera mode.
The other one is in Orthographic and you can compare that to the actual church in the game. Critics and advice are much appreciated.

hmm. ok, this looks very good. Guess, i’ll go back to Diablo and start playing again.

Ok guys,I know it’s been awhile since the last update but I didn’t have much time to work in Blender. So, I made all the buildings (the entrance to the catacombs and the 2 houses). I made the walls around the village but they’re not much detailed.Next thing I’ll be doing is making the trees (or download some maybe ;)), the rocks around the village and the cows (maybe download them too :D).I know a lot of people add textures instantly but I don’t like that way, because it becomes messy later.I prefer doing all the modeling first and then texturing everything.By for now.

mmm, it reminds me good old days  Geometry looks nice so far. Maybe a little bit of smoothing on river silhouette could make it better, but i don’t know what is the target polycount. Anyways, keep up, i like it!

I know what you mean and I will do that (smoothing the river) but now I’m more concentrated on modeling the details of the village. The river problem isn’t hard to fix, just move some vertices and that’s all.

Ok, I just thought it was worth mentioning. Looking forward for more updates!

I think I’m using the worst way of texturing that can be used in Blender. Btw I started to texure the Church and as you can see it’s a real mess!!!If anyone can texture this for me or give me a good tutorial (no beginner please) I would really appreciate that.

P.S. I was on a holiday so didn’t have much time for Blender and I did this right now.

Guys, just let me tell you that I have continued to work on this project yesterday and expect more updates on this thread.

And these are the render of the Church. I finished texturing her. This was pretty easy tough, I watched a tutorial and boom! Finished it in a second.

It looks nice. I’d love to see a higher poly models, but I can see that you’re aiming for real time more. Either way use some bump maps and specular maps. What would also add a lot is some dirt and AO effects. Check this video from Mango http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_bR7gRlgrs&feature=player_embedded where it’s explained. Looking forward to seeing the rest textured.

Thx for the advices cdog but I plan to use this in game engine and I don’t want to ruin my FPS with higher poly models.
Btw I started to paint the terrain. First i paint everything in grass texture and then add the other textures over it.

I will fix the Church entrance when i finish painting this. I mean I’ll do the inside of the church so when I do it the church will have a floor so you wont be able to see the grass.

Here is a small update, I textured the river and I’m doing the road now.
