I’m making an animated series with a small team. This is a short clip from the pilot episode. I’m trying to create a high-quality, engaging cartoon to try and secure funding for full series production. What do you think of the episode? Any feedback?
Looks very cool, first I want to say I am no expert or anything, I just give some feedback as You requested, I dont like the background nor the blue trees, I like the animation, looks very pro already, the charachters look fine.
I would say great work!
This is very good, everything is pretty polished it’s quite impressive for small team work.
I’m not sure what kind of feedback you’re after, from a project perspective : the overall design feel aimed at kids, but the theme feel a bit more adult. I think having a clear cut there would help the viewer to understand better what this is all about.
If it’s for kids then maybe stuff like dating and such is a bit disconnected from their universe.
If it’s for adult, well the gag with waiter mixing the plates might lack a bit of spice and a bit disconnected to adult’s life even if translating our world’s rules to their animalistic world is fun indeed !
Also, this might lack a bit of visual comedy, it’s mostly about dialogues but the visual style has a lot to offer so adding more visual gags, maybe slapstick comedy and so on would make the whole feel more interesting…
Anyway, super cool work, I’ve already see those characters when looking at your work and they are gorgeous, there is really nothing to say about the visual style, maybe it’s more about storytelling (which is actually good) and the relation between the two characters that things can be refined !
In terms of storytelling, may I suggest that you further develop the chicken’s part. Right now, the fox does all the talking, but the chicken has the fun geometry!
Anyhow – you’ve definitely got something very “solid” here.
This looks great the animation looks great and I have been trying to work on an animated series and ive been trying over and over again but I dont have a team so that will make it harder if you have any advice can you tell me?
This is the main character its unfinished and yea im still currently working on it
The most important piece of advice I’d recommend based on my experience is to find a professional screenwriter. The chances of you doing both the graphics and the script well are slim, so it’s best to entrust this part to a professional. We also found voice and motion actors.
This is going to be suuuuuper nitpickey, but also a fairly easy change. The subs go past too fast to read! It would make sense to sqash each sub into fewer words. You ofen find this in translated films - the subs are a shortened version of the dialog, and the dubbed version is writern to have the same number of silables.
