two color fur

Can anyone tell me how to make two color fur with blender 2.46 RC3?

do you mean two colors along the hair shaft, or two colors across the coat of the animal, like a cat’s markings? For two colors along the shaft, use a color ramp. For two colors along the coat of the animal, I think you use a texture.

I made this puppy http://www.antoons.org/blender/puppy1.jpg

and want to have the fur like on the foto.

Understand that blender 2.46RC3 has a new particle system which made this possible
but I do not now how.

Cute model! So, at the top of this page is a Search hyperlink. Click it and enter fur particle hair. The resulting list will give you lots of info on how to do this very frequently asked question. Enjoy! We are working on the documentation for the new particle system at http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Sandbox but it is no where near complete. The current release is well documented here: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Manual/Static_Particles

Okay Thanks for the reply.

Anyway this link is for an old version blender 2.40

For a simple way to get the pattern you want, either Vertex paint or Texture paint your object. The Hair particles will pick up their color from the painted texture.

I am also looking the fur like this image. What a nice shadey fur of different colors.

If you find some tutorial, please guide me also.

It is here: http://peach.blender.org/

By the way, I am told the tutorial comes with a stunning demo movie.

I did a pre order just have to wait for only a few weeks for it.

In the old particles, there was an option to enable a texture on the emmitter. I used to use a photo grass texture to allow the blades on my model take up the slightly different shades you find in a real field of grass.

I am thinking that that the fur in the new system can take its color from the diffuse maps. Try UV mapping him and see if the colors come through.

Yes it works.
