Use config file from previous installed version

Every time I update Blender 3D all my personal settings from the user preferences are gone. So after every update I have to set them manually.

Is there way how I can use the user preferences from the last installed version?

info: Just updated from 2.61 to 2.62 on a Linux platform

The first time you open a new version of blender you will get an option in the splash screen to copy your previous settings.

I make a “template” .blend that’s empty but has all my preferred settings in place, then open it in a new version and use File>Save User Settings.
