Using a low Poly object to drive high poly object in Blender

Hi I am have been a 3ds max user for year and just recently became a Blender user.

I was wonder if there is a modifier in Blender that can use the vertex deformation of a low poly object to drive a high poly object beneath it.

In Max it is called skin wrap.

3Ds “Skin wrap” is, in Blender, more like sharing a rig with animation action on multiple different character objects; not low to high poly. This question comes up time to time. With 3Ds, the intent of this function is targeted towards sharing rig / animation definition among similar but different looking characters. Is this what you are after?
