Using L3DT attribute or alphamaps to recreate texure patern in blender

I use L3DT for terrain building, I want to use either the attribute map (sample below) or the related alpha-maps to recreate the texture patterns with blender materials and particle grass…the design is not meant for a game, so the l3dt “colour-map” textures are only for visualization. I want to use the attribute or control the texture painting or particle distribution as necessary

ok I found resources for texture painting but can u use masks for particle density like u can with weight paints or can u use masks on weight painting didn’t find anything on that
