i bake a rectangular plate with a 1/2 sphere hole
now when you save this it gives a square map lie 1024 X 1024
then you can edit it and take only the rectangle part of it
but then how do you adjust the scale when adding it to a rectangle plane
the UV iamge show a circle hole
but when rendering it show more an ellipse then a circle which is a problem

is there a script or addon to help do this task ?
thanks for any feedback
here is file with nor images
zplate1.blend (465 KB)
original pic
edited image
first image is twice as large and 1024 pixel from baking
second is cut image to make it smaller
now i already change the UV map in UV editor manualy
but if you uwnrap plane it won’t fit all over the UV image and cretae distortion in render or viewport texture mode
thanks
It’s likely that the width/height ratio of the face edges is different from the ratio of the texture itself, causing the texture to be stretched.
One way to fix this is by either scaling down the height of the faces in question, scaling up the height of the UVmap, or stretching the texture (which this last one you probably don’t want to do).
Another way to fix it would be to inset squares into the faces with the map on them and map those squares to show the hole while removing any hole pieces from the map of the surrounding faces. Since the normals seen on the boundaries of the map will all match up, you will not notice any seams.
if i do the plates on the side of a ship
i mean you cannot really change the face size!
so the normal map has to fit with proper scale
so only way is to scale the UV image in UV editor
but now is there like an addon to help set the proper scale in UV editor for rectangle face
or you have play with it till you get some nice circle on face?
i may have hundreth of map like that to fit and then build much bigger maps form the different parts
thanks
