uv coords from multiple meshes viewed in one uv map window?

hello,
i’ve got a set of objects with meshes that i’d like to keep seperate for the sake of convenience, and i’d like to map them to a single uv map. is this possible, or do i have to join them? the other option would be to map each object on its own and combine the rendered uv templates, checking for overlap. that sounds like a lot of work though…

i suppose another approach would be to join the meshes, uv map, and then seperate them back to original form.

anyone else come across a similar situation?

AFAIK, you will need to join them and seperate later on. Or UV map them individually.
