UV Map not Rendering

Howdy, new to Blender and have been trying to make a spinning coin animation…

I used a cylinder and mapped an image to the 2 x faces as well as the ‘rim’ of the coin using the UV/Image editor. Made the 10sec animation of it spinning on the Z axis but when I try and render either the animation or a still image of the coin the image which has been mapped to the surfaces doesn’t render???

Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you actually add the texture to the object material with the mapping coordinates set to UV ?
