V1.6: MeasureIt - measurement tools

*** NOTICE ***
This add-on is now part of Blender official releases. If you want download last versions or report a bug, please uses Blender website.

MeasureIt is an add-on designed for displaying measures in the viewport, making the process of design objects with exact measures, easier.

These tools are extremely useful for any job that requires exact measurements, including architectural projects, technical design and 3D printing.

You can use it for:

  • Mesh vertex to vertex measure: Length between vertices in the same mesh.

  • Mesh vertex labeling: Add a label to any mesh vertex. This allows identify easily different areas or objects in the scene.

  • Object to Object: Distance between object origins, vertex to origin or vertex to vertex.

  • Object to origin: Distance between object origin to scene origin or vertex to scene origin.

  • Allows work with different scales.

The measures can be used with Meshes, Empties, Lamps and Cameras. Blender units, Metric and Imperial are supported.

As all measure definitions are saved in the blend file, you can save the file and the next time you use it, the measures will be ready.

Thanks ,for the addon and the tutorial.
Nice addon excellent for exact measurements.

Thanks a lot Antonio,

PS: Is it an optimisation method in your python file without empty line?

Finally a really good addon for the measures in Blender!
All features are amazing and parametrics! Very nice!
I’m architect and your add-on is top-notch!
Great Thanks Antonio!

WOW thanks

Nice! Are these dimensions renderable?

Finally real good measurements, thank you Anton.

hi, this looks like a good replacement for measure panel.
measure panel has been removed from 2.75 release.
would you care to submit here: https://developer.blender.org/maniphest/project/3/type/Patch/
would you be happy to develop & maintain this in Blender?

Must have addon for 3D Printing!!!

Thank you very much!!!

Give me your address and I’ll send some beers your way… they might be a bit stale when they arrive, but you sure deserve them.
Thank you! really. Nice and useful addon

fascinating !!! Congratulations Antonioya

Really Good its possible to render the mesure? pleasi is essential

its possible add the angle degrees mesurements in future?
tanks for this add-on

tnx a lot!!! awesome!!!

Thanks it works great I appreciate the imperial unit support. Great job!

I’m sorry, but only works in viewport. There is a trick: Select camera view, then preview render and take an screenshot (this is what I made for my video)

I used a PEP8 checker and made all suggested changes in the source code  (I used Pycharm…it’s free)

Hi great addon! thanks!
I have some questions. Is there a posibility to make the units consistent? I mean that some of the units are in cm and some are in meters. eg. it shows 50 cm and 1.15 m.
Is there an option to change the font size or thicknes of all the mesaurments at once ? I mean after creating them.
And one last. Those measurments are interactive when changing in object mode (when you scale an object in object mode). But when you change verts in edit mode you have to get back to object mode to refresh them. It would be super useful to have them interactive in edit mode especially when modeling. I wouldn’t have to use the edge lenght option (which isn’t convinient)

Great add-on …
Thx Antonio

Really Nice! It even supports Unicodes!
BTW, a few ideas:

  1. Allow presision to be set to 0. In some cases, it is enough to only show integers.

  2. Allow customization for the word “Scale”, since we can translate it into the local language, or add more specific note to it.

  3. It would be really nice to see a dynamic measurment possible. I mean, the texts change during mesh animation driven by modifiers, shapekeys, bones etc, thus we can do viewport recording for cool animations (even it cannot be rendered by render engines).

Thanks again for bring this great addon.
