looks great, well done
Wow, that is impresive!
But I don’t know if you know that the velociraptor had feathers?
but if you are looking for a Jurassic park look, I think it is very well done!
Wow, that’s really cool. I did a velociraptor myself about a week ago and I’m really amazed by your materials. Did you draw the bump map yourself? Or where did you get it from? My only point of critique is that he looks a bit thin and that it seems to me that he doesn’t have enough muscle mass.
I tried to use PBR. I am happy that you like it. Diffuse, specular, fresnel, normal, bump. From all textures only diffuse texture was made by hand. Others were more or less generic actually except bump one which really is procedural.

It does have muscle mass… actually it has implemented dynamic muscle system for animation.

Just a note here. The turntable was made with some temporary materials so it’s not a final version really.
I never heard of a feature like this in Blender?
Well, if this is your first work, than you must have experiences with other 3D Software right?
Maybe some more gloss in the mouth helps making it look more wet
I started 3dsmax in 2001 but it was fun. Glass of water, orange and apple was the scene I could make. Nothing serious, really. So I met the concepts of 3D but the real fun I started not long ago. This is my second or third finished work.
Dynamic muscle system is the technique I use for mesh deformations to simulate muscles under the skin. The overall effect is subtle but noticeable. The setup is difficult, time consuming and repetitive so I wrote a script and will make an addon soon, anyways based on already existing ideas available for blender.

Albert
I can’t wait for the use a muscle system in blender. I hope you can combine it with automatic rig systems like rigify and auto rig. that would be amazing and so powerful.
Crap… I made some research, wrote some critiques and just realized this thread wasn’t in the Focused critiques forum.
Well, in any case, here it is now :
This dynamic muscle system you’re making sounds quite impressive, and your model has great detail and textures. But I’ve got several critiques about the rest :
And if you really want to go for the raptor, there can be many approaches, realistic or not :
Finally some criticism
The materials I have used… I tried to use PBR techniques but probably the scene lighting is too sharp. Yes I tried to get rid of specular from the materials but there is one. It’s subtle and can be visible in animation (not attached one). Additionally SSS is used and may deeper the roughness effect.
Dinosaur’s pose? Well yeah
Here is what rig can do

Hello!
Like I said, there’s a special technique used to add the muscle rig to velociraptor Armature. It is used with an add-on
There will be dedicated separate threat for interested.

which addon man ? And nice job
Hey!
Thanks!
X-Muscle System for Blender. The add-on will debut soon on Blendermarket.
