Hi, I’m just wondering if there is a color picker for vertex color that samples the actual vertex color not just the pixel on screen?
I know u can color pick from the tools menu and by pressing “S” and I do use the color pallet but I wanna sample vertex color.
Okay, while in vertex paint mode, press z so you go into wireframe mode, but in vertex paint mode it will preview your vcols as shadeless. Then you can pick the correct shade of colour using S key to sample already painted areas.
Looks like it works differently now in Blender 2.93. In Vertex Paint mode if you switch to Wireframe it will show wireframe, not the shadeless model.
For anyone who still might be interested in how to color pick vertex colors. In Vertex Paint mode turn on Solid viewport shading (if it’s not already), go to shading options and turn on Flat Lighting.
Thanks, that helped! I always wondered why the color picker doesn’t ignore shading as a default, or at least as an option. Since most of the time the flat color is what an artist needs.
