I have followed a few tutorials on creating vertice groups and applying weights to them…But if I try to apply weights with slider in the Property panel, then then each group inherits the weights I apply. I can use the weight paint to do this, but I can’t just type it in. Am I doing something wrong?
I mean beyond spelling vertex wrong.
You are probably doing it right. The panel doesn’t display the selected group weight, just what you assigned previously.
You’ll see the correct weight if you deselect/select one vertex from the group to make it active and look at the properties panel (N), there’s “vertex groups” section and it displays the average weight for them (I think).
And of course in weight paint mode you see the difference in weights when you go through the groups.
