Its now Blender 3.5 (and its Amazing!) but I still can’t seem to route Video sequencer through the Compositor. Seriously… after all this time since we have had a compositor, and we still don"t have the capability? Am I missing something?
Please! It would make Blender like After Effects. Can ChatGPT do it?
Welcome …
well blender is a 3D-suite capable of a lot of things… but for some things there are of course more advanced solutions in particular if you have to pay for it… Seriously…
And the last question… well… just try for yourself… and you will see how much works this is… using shitchat ( ← pun intended ) or not…
You can’t directly, but you can render out your video and then re-run it through the compositor by importing a video texture onto a plane. Honestly, though, you’d be better served using something like Natron, Blender wasn’t made to do this. The compositor is designed to work with discrete objects in 3D space, not a flat video
yes I had the same question bcause it seems taht compositor and video editor are completely separated. Obviously I never edited videos and I dont know anything about it. I just did some tests and it seemed natural to me to think of uniting compositor plus video editor…
no idea. at this point I even struggle to understand whats the video editor for, since nobody seems to use it. Will install this natron to see what it does
The video sequence editor is exactly that- it’s a timeline based tool for creating sequences of videos out of rendered clips. This is the same as any other sequencer like Adobe Premiere, ShotCut, or Kdenlive. The compositor performs discrete operations on data composed of objects in 3D space, using passes and render layers to separate out different kinds of data. It has nothing to do with making a rendered video sequence.
Think about it this way: the compositor is for combining and modifying data in space. The sequencer is for combining and modifying data in time.
Personally, I use the VSE all the time; I don’t have Premiere, and I find it faster and simpler for basic video tasks than Resolve.
Welcome to BA.
I use the VSE on every project. I make short animations, and use it to (obviously) edit and cross-fade video strips, add titles and credits and for background and foreground sounds and dialog.
Blender does not work similarly to After Effects
But some people use it in a similar way to After Effects. In 3D space, not video sequencer
Thanks for your input!
