Viking Giro d'italia Racing Bicycle.

Hi everyone, Does anyone know how i might be able to mke these cables move witht he handle bars without detatching themselfs from the bike?

Im hoping to get this finished today so any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks, Bizla.

One option is to use curves for the cables and use hooks parented to the handlebars to move the curves

Thanks for the reply, I have never heard of this method, I will give it a go, Since the cables are already BezierCurves it shouldn’t be too much trouble.

Thank you very much, Bizla.

if you have multiple wire in a cable
you can use the oscuart script for ropes!

salutations

thanks for the tip ricky

and Richard Marklew, I cant thank you enough, your tip with the curves and hooks has worked better than I had imagined, took a while to figure it all out but its surprisingly simple, certainly a feature I will using more of in the future

heres the bike with the new hooks in place, there are some minor deformations in the cable but thats largely due to having the handle bars turned at such a steep angle for the render.

Here is the Bike with all materials done, and all modelling finished.

Tomorrow morning I will finish the bike off with textures and decals.

P.s I own this Racer which Is why I chose to model it, as I know the bike inside out and so have put in every detail and every bolt I could remember (which is ALOT).

i assume done in cycles !

and not many spokes also look very small !

no spot light in front must be difficult to use at night! LOL

overall looking very nice

happy cycles

thanks ricky

Yup all cycles, there should be the same amount of spokes as the real one, and They are extremely thin on the real thing too

Haha, Yeah I dont do night time riding, just a quick 10 mile ride in the morning to wake me up :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks mate xD

Great modelling! I started on a similar bike a few days ago and gave up because I couldn’t find enough reference photos. Did you find photos somewhere, or is this your bike?

Thanks drtomtron

Yeah I also found it wa\s very decent getting reference pictures, So I went outside and took photo’s of my own bike, it would also be quite easy to change the base a little to make the viking Roma too, But i’ll see how well the Giro D’italia sells first.

how did you do the handle’s leather covering
it looks very smooth
how many verts for this detail alone?

did you looks at all new features in blender ?

thanks

the handle wraps are 1694 verts, i have 2 levels of subsurf applied at render time though which pushing it up to about 15000 verts i think.

And i have just answered your questiong about the wraps on the finished project page to someone else, so have a look at that

No i havnt, ive had trouble with the last 3 releases not installing :L so im using a slightly older compiled from source version.

yes but did you use like a curve modifier or skin modifier to do the handles?

there was a lot of new features since last springs
it’s becoming difficult to follow all of these new things! LOL

thanks
