Virtual Reality is my fourth major artwork, created after completing Sunsets and Solos. Inspired by the announcement of VR headsets, I set out to visualize a scene that explored both the isolation and immersion of virtual environments.
The original concept went through many changes. My first idea resembled the emotional tone of Alexithymia, but I wanted to create something that felt new—something different from what I had done before.
I then shifted toward a beach setting, initially planning for a bright morning atmosphere. But due to texture limitations, especially with the mountains in the background, the scene naturally evolved into a night-time scenario.
As I worked, new ideas began to emerge. I started adding background characters, each going about their own activities along the beach—animated using Mixamo—to give the world a sense of life and motion.
At the center is a character using a VR headset, working at night. The holographic interface they interact with isn’t just a visual element—it’s a way for us, the viewers, to see what the character is experiencing inside their virtual space. It may be a metaphor, or maybe not—but it opens up a window into their digital reality.
Everything was modeled and animated in Blender, and the final compositing and editing were done in After Effects. This is the final rendered result, capturing the mood, the narrative, and the layers of this evolving vision.
