Vulkan - Ray Tracing is a thing

So, wonder if Blender team will be able to push this or will vendors (AMD/Nvidia) will require to step in.

Since nVidia sponsors Blender foundation and contributing source code directly on their own (or foundation can afford to let a developer work to support the GPU), it means that Blender will support nVidia specific extensions. More or less same goes with AMD.

However the best and safest strategy if you think about it is by default to focus on the common standard extension that would be same for all Vulkan GPUs and ensure far better stability that way.
