walk cycle jumps ahead

I have been working on the animation for this dog and I have added some different actions in the NLA Editor. I have him starting on frame one and I have no problem when I add these 3-4 actions it works and his location is at the median point

Then when I add the walk cycle he goes several grid points ahead which is what I don’t want.

I have also shown the keyframes and I don’t undertand why he jusmps ahead.

Here is the blend file

Please help me with this.

Okay so your working on your Walk Cycle Correct?

Yes I am. Not sure what is going on with it

Okay… I actually am not that great of an expert on the NLA editor…
I’ve only use it on rare occations…

however… one thing that seemed to be wrong with what you had is that you needed to move the Action down on to an actual NLA track…
I put your action on Track 4 and moved it back behind all the other actions…

you have a jump between the ‘situp’ and ‘walkcycle’ action because there needs to be a transition placed between them…

frankly everytime I use the NLA editor and try to place a transistion… it messed up everything with my Rigg…
(that’s one of the reasons I don’t use it much…)

so what I’m suggesting is don’t trust the AutoMajic transition thing…

in stead make you another action…

one that goes between a walkcycle and standing in place… because you have your dog stand up into a standing postion… but you don’t have him… go from a standing postion into the walk cycle…

it won’t be a very long action… should not take you long to do…

It works part of the time.

one thing that seemed to be wrong with what you had is that you needed to move the Action down on to an actual NLA track…

When I click the Add in the NLA Is that correct? So I thought I am adding it to an NLA track??

So I clicked the ADD in NLA to add rest pose. It worked sometimes then it doesn’t much to my disappointment. When It hits the walk cycle he goes backwards So I backup the dog to the sit up action and started from there and he didn’t back up when he hit the walk cycle.

But when I start from frame one and he hits the rest pose then walk he backs up. WHY??

I’m not exactly sure what it is your having a problem with … frankly…

but here is a video I have watched before that solved alot of problems I have had with using the NLAeditor…

if you skip ahead to about 15:00 he gets into using the NLA editor and what he shows may solve some of the problems your having with it…

Thank you I will take a look at this.
