Water Sim

I’m working on an animation with a character splashing around in some water, so i made a small test that turned into something pretty cool…

Some hi-res stills:

for some reason the reflection map i used made the far side of the water black:confused:, but it did give the water more depth, so i kept it - any workarounds?

Looks great. Is that vector blur? And what was the bake time?

thanks, padfoot!

and yes, that is vector blur in the second still and the movie (one of the awesome features of blender fluid sim)

It did take a long time to bake (resolution 500), about 5 mins. per frame (26 hours)
but rendering took the most because of ray tracing.

all the waiting definitely worth it, though

I like it. Some places look like mercury

Its pretty cool. I wish I would find the time to check out the fluid sim. Guess I’m scred because I know I’ll want to render render render!

A crit: the water appears to be a cube when it comes out of the faucet. I know you probably arent going to fix this because this is somewhat a test, but for your final try to see if a cylinder could be used

Keep on blendin’

thanks you guys!

@Topcat: you’re right, but the specularity makes it look cooler :eyebrowlift:

@tdietz:I know what you mean (look at me, I have a raytraced HD simulation for a simple test), I get carried away too, but it’s fun!
and yes, it starts out as cube, but i ddnt know people would notice :o

That’s impressive! Did you use particles at all for this?

Looks awesome! I love water sims

hmm… more transparency I say, too reflective unless its mercury! which the reflection is blurry …Nice though!Exciting but it is a long time for the render right…???

Glad you all like it!

@nbninja8: If you mean the particles setting in the fluid sim, yes, but no particle systems.

@Jay: so do i!

yeah, Frank, it wasnt fun waiting a day to watch ray transparency happen…but its worth it!

love it, really gushy and awesome.
