Anyway, to the image. Looks like you did the text and text balloons with curves and Blenders text, thus why the BG text looks blurred due to the zblur. May have been better to do that in post so it wasn’t blurred?
Also, the re-use of your alien skin texture is getting a bit old. No offense to it, cause it looks really good. Maybe vary up the colours some so it’s not so noticable.
Loving your quality of renders lately though. Very well lit and executed. Looking better than some yafray renders IMO.
3Distracted - I don’t put my finger in dykes, but for you I can make an exception.
BgDM - The text and textballoons were actually added PostPro. The blurred one was to try out how it looked. You can stil see/read it, but it remains in the background (like she is).

Haha, I knew you’d notice that.
Just a coincidence (now it’s 4 aliens and 3 creatures in total). Colouring it some sounds like work…
Next time no alienskin, I promise. %|
And yes, rendering with the internal render gets easier every time. Yafray is for woosies…
yoeri - okay okay, fair enough. No more alienskin for a long time. But for every time I used it I hope I just gave it the look it needed (so no furry seacreatures or aliens).
very funny, and excellent creatures. i think it would have looked best with no blur, on text, or on the background. is it possible to post a non-blur version…
characters are awsome, sea looks awsome, and the wet look of the rock is pulled off very well.
your best render scince the rats…speaking of rats…haha!
by the way…eric…coincidence??..or not??..if no coincidence i’m happy to have made my annoying ass into a Sago work, whoohoo, if not never mind, move along, nothing to see here…
i don’t agree with the message here, but rendering is indeed quite nice. i also think these could work better with less text in them. I don’t especially like the cartoon bubbles.
Lol, it’s a shame she’s out of focus, but for the quality of the image it’s better (depth-> more realistic). The blurred text stays in the background where she is.
I know I know, I still want to send you an email. I just procrastinate… alot. It’s not something I’m proud of.
Haha, no coincidence. though you’re just 10 days older than me I still think you’re like a juvenile.
Basse - Lol, it’s a joke so you don’t have to agree with the message. Is your woman looking over your shoulder or something? I don’t agree with it either.

Nice image Sago.
It’s refreshing to see someone who consistently finds ways to add humour to their scene. I’ve enjoyed a lot of your work and it really helps to fully appreciate the work when there is something extra there to make the image more than just a showcase for materials or geometry.
Good Work.
oh… heh, in finnish we call them bubbles, not balloons. sorry about that.
anyway, i dont agree that it would mean no joke. you should be able to make picture also work without totally giving it away in the text.
you have the question there, and the picture should explain it, i think.
you would make the wife look more like a wife (now your characters basicly look the same), perhaps put millions of screaming kids there with her, whatever to make it look like she has lot of things to do… and the guy more ignoring and irratated of the whole thing (raising hand perhaps, doing the “pffft” gesture)…
i know it’s harder to do, but that’s the whole thing. this is easy way out here, with totally explanatory text the fun is all in text, not in picture.
i dont know if i am explaining this correctly… oh well…
Right arealam: Blueish colour, 0.9 energy, Distance 14
Lamp on right: weak blueish lamp
AO with 9 samples, Add and SkyTexture enabled.
Wordcolours are blue gradient, from darkblue (top) to lightblue (bottom).
2 lamps in front of the malecreature were just for diffuse and specular lighting the eyes.
1 extra lamp (doesn’t show in the attachment) only for specular lighting the water.
Apart from the Speech Bubbles, your image looks like you had some little fishmonster toys which you set up and then took a photo. Certainly manages to achieve that “uncanny” effect that us 3D Artist often strive to achieve.
Would be nice to see this piece animated with the same render quality.
By the way, I’ve noticed a lot of your images achieve that “that-might-as-well-be-photo-of-a-real-puppet-or-sculpture” look.
Do you use Blender Internal in all your Images or are some of them done with yafray?
