I have Blender release version 36339 on Windows XP Pro 64 bit, when I assign the with empty groups option the bone’s show zero weights in weight paint mode but when I rotate a bone the mesh deforms as though it has weight assignments?
I fix this by tabbing into edit mode and assigning zero weights to all groups but isn’t this the whole purpose of empty groups?
Try it on the blend included and you will see what I mean, shift select the mesh then the armature Ctrl + P to parent and choose empty groups switch to pose mode and rotate the bones.
Just wanted to see if any one else has found this issue
