Weird alpha texture artifacts when bunched close together


I’m currently working on creating a feather system using a particle system and a particle instance modifier and I’m having this issue where in certain areas the alpha of the feather texture is causing strange artifacts.
Neither turning off shadows/playing with alpha clip, blend, ect seems to do anything, neither does turning up the transparency bounces.

Here’s what a single feather looks like on its own.
Anyone know how to fix this?

Did you try changing the alpha clip / alpha blend / alpha hash settings?

yes, nothing seemed to make the black squares go away, also this is cycles, forgot to mention

Try turning up your transparent bounces in render buttons.

tried that as well to no avail
