Weird bone movement

I’m trying to rig a character for the first time. I would prefer to use point weighting to rig the character. I’ve also been watching a tutorial in which I did not observe this happening.


This keeps happening no matter where I try to rig the body. I have even tried deleting some of the loop cuts to give it more space to stretch. I also experimented with using more gradual weights, like with weight paint, but this always happens. How do I get the rig to move like normal?

Okay so I’ve been playing with a little bit and I noticed the modifier doing something… That little field down there in that armature modifier says, “vertex group”. So I tried putting the hip’s vertex group in there and it seems to be working better now…

It looks to me like you only have proper weighting on the one bone and the other 2 bones have no weight to them. A picture with the weight maps of all the bones should verify this.

The hip was kind a test/demo. I had previously had the whole spine weighted. I’m still experimenting on it lol. Thank you for taking the time to look at this post.

And the spine was still acting funny when i was testing it.
