What browser do you use?

Safari. Don’t know how good it is on windows, but on a mac its lightning fast.

firefox most of the time, lynx if X11 brakes.

I love Firefox, and Firefox 3 is nice and fast, but it starts up very slowly. The first start of it it takes anywhere from 30sec-5min. Subsequent starts are ‘instant’-0.5sec.

I really like Opera as well, but I don’t use it as much, because Firefox is the prevailing browser at public/work computers, and I am able to make Firefox do all things I like about Opera.

Paint me stupid but usually I only use Internet Explorer:rolleyes:

It’s great on windows as well… not as fast as chrome though…

haha, isitchristmas is great nat ;), but does it change on christmas?

My homepage is the Verizon one…

I use firefox 3 and rarely IE 7 (only when I have to).
My home page on IE is about:blank (which should tell you how much I use it)
On firefox, I’ve got 6 homepage tabs:
http://kde.org/ | http://windows.kde.org/ | http://www.kubuntu.org/ | http://www.kdevelop.org/ | http://gtkforums.com/ | http://www.blendernation.com/
It’s excessive, I know, but it works.
I use google for searching.

I haven’t used chrome yet, but I’m planning on trying it at some point.

Wow, I’ve never had that… Is it a Windows thing?

Firefox works perfectly fine for me. The start up time is a non-issue really. FF3 always starts up in 2 seconds or less for me, even with all 13 of my add-ons. I’ve spent a lot of time customizing to make FF a perfect match for me, so there’s really no need to change.

I tried Chrome and didn’t like it one bit.

What browser do you use?

Firefox 3

Firefox starts up at a resonable speed, but is slower than Safari and Opera (this could be because I’ve got an add-on for Firefox that shows a splash screen when it starts)

When opening for the first time…
Safari bounces on the dock once before opening, Opera bounces around 3 times and Firefox bounces around five times.

One of the first things i did last Christmas was check it, and yes it does say “YES”

You might want to elaborate on that graph since, by itself, it doesn’t say much.
A bit of googling came up with this

which links to the benchmark test

ha, that’s awesome nat

Here’s my homepage: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
It’s different every time I start the browser (obviously.)

My browser is Firefox 3, which loads faster than I can type “Lynx,” and is completely stable thanks to the “flashblock” extension. The desktop icon for firefox uses the “-profilemanager” launch option to ask me which profile i want to use. That way my wife can choose her own profile and have her own choices of bookmarks, extensions, history, and etc.

knellotron that’s kind of a neat idea for a homepage :P, I actually hadn’t thought of it :).

It seems like it. On Ubuntu it takes about a second tops.

I like Safari, FF has actually froze up a few times on my macbook- all I want in Safari is to open links in a new tab automatically! My homepage is Blenderartists.org. How sad is that. It used to be wiki.blender.org. Is that worse?

Internet Explorer is still WAY slower than Firefox
If you would ever do any real test, you would find that Firefox is more than 5X slower than Internet Explorer (at least on Windows). If you don’t believe me, go ahead and write some stress test in html or java script - you’ll see what I mean.

Anyways, my main browser is Firefox, but I don’t mind using Internet Explorer here and there.
