What format to render animation for Movie Maker

I am literally only a couple weeks into learning Blender. I have a cool intro logo for a music video, but when I render the animation for it, it only renders the last frame as a still picture. Is this because of the selected format? I want a clip to insert into Windows Movie Maker. What format should I render the animation?
Also If I download the newest version of Blender, do I need to uninstall the old one first?

Thanks

Change the format, in the Scene panels, to one of the AVI formats, or FFMPeg. Windows Movie Maker should import those formats.

Usually you don’t need to uninstall the older version of Blender when you install a newer version. However, if you have done some customizations, they can be lost.

For best quality (but slower loading and editing), use avi RAW
