What was used to make the hairball in the test suite?

I got the test files for the beta versions of Blender and there was a really nice hairball with some cool looking fur. I was just wondering how it was done. I’ve used beast but all of the hairs seem to be separate objects, whereas these seem to be part of the mesh. The test files are here and the file is hairball.blend:


They’re static particles. You can see the setting right in the blend file.


Thanks, I haven’t done any particle stuff yet so I don’t know about the settings but I’ll get to it eventually. :slight_smile:

I never thought about doing fur with particles. It looks pretty good.
