Whatever happened to FBX import?

I looked around and found some threads on the internets, one with a script. The FBX export works fairly well, is there no plugin for the import?

As per numerous threads asking the same question, the answer is still the same. No there isn’t

The threads I found, which weren’t many, were dated. There was one with a script, however - have you tried it?

A FBX importer would be highly appreciated.

Is something like this planned or in the making ?
Many users would pay a good price for such an Addon script.
