What's wrong with Blender? Why the selection is... wrong?

After I select some vertices inside wireframe mode, it looks like there are overlapping vertices, but I tried to merge vertices by distance and it removes no vertices. However, the selection is normal in other mode.

I tried to add a new cube and select its vertices in wireframe mode, it is alright, so it’s the models problem?

do you have any modifiers on the problem object? In particular, a subdiv modifier?

Maybe mirror modifier is creating double vertices. Is your model only one side ?

I found the solution. I just need to do a shade smooth. How stupid I am… It still looks a bit weird, but I think it is acceptable.
