When I toggle cyclic it creates an extra loop

Im trying to close a shape I made using bezier curves. I tried using toggle cyclic, which seems to be the solution that always come up, but when I do it, the points create an extra loop instead of connecting directly. I attached an image showing that. Any help would be very much appreciated!

I think if you want to avoid that, before you toggle cyclic, make the handles of the parts that will be connected very small.
