Why do hair objets use the yaxis for height?

It makes no sense to facilitate the creation of assets in such a non-sensical workflow

  1. Is it on the roadmap to fix this?
  2. The community of blender has commited to this workflow for asset creation? It seems completely absurd to force the production of meshes that can only be used exclusively with the particle system as the transformation has to be applied to the mesh…
