It looks like the top is recieving more light than the bottom. Both the camera and the light source are centered and pointing at the object. I want all parts to look the same.

use a hemi light, and make sure it is horizontal.
Thanks for the reply. I inserted a hemi and deleted the lamp. it looks slightly different but it’s still brighter at the top.
make sure the light is pointing at the center of the object.
I started with a new file and did the exact same thing and somehow it worked this time.
Is there anything else in blender that could cause this to happen?
I’m not sure what your final goal is, but if you really, really want all parts to have the same lighting you could use the ‘shadeless’ material setting.
Also, it sort of looks like your top scales or whatever they are, are pointing straight at the camera while the bottom ones are pointed more towards the bottom of the picture. If that’s the case, that would account for the change in lighting from top to bottom.
usually light source are at the top of roof not on the floor
so it’s a bit normal that the top will have more light than the bottom
that’s also the case in the real world
so it’s normal
cvheck in wiki for the different type of lamp some are more general thant lamp or spot and could provide you with a more uniform lighting
