I was inspired to make this Ammo box after I came accross this youtube short.
I thought I’d be interesting to recreate the surface details on this metal ammo container.
Still going at it. A few more surface details remaining. Also have to texture the rounds inside.

This seemingly simple looking ammo box (At least that’s what I thought at first :') ) turned out to be much more challenging to get right.

It has some really interesting surface details and transitions between the deep, medium and light rusting. All of that transitions into the paint layer with dark and white spots.

Also there’s this interesting effect where the text is spray painted and only smudged in a very certain way. It has a nice looking fading effect that’s a bit hard to describe. I’ll probably make a tutorial for this it I have enough time.

Observing and recreating the details has been fun so far.
Will get to optimizing the mesh after I’m done texturing.
