[WIP] Shark Creature

Hi blender community !

I got a wacom tablet for my birthday and decided to explore the sculpting possibilities of Blender. This is my first real sculpt and I don’t know what you guys think of this, but I am pretty proud

The feet were supposed to be like frog feet. But I never managed to get something that even remotely looked like that… So I decided that I would do that in the retopology phase. Also if someone could tell me how to make perfectly flat surfaces that would be wonderful ! I tried the flatten brush, the polish brush, the scrape brush, the smooth brush… But I could never get an even flat surface.

I didn’t include a lot of details in the sculpt. I had no idea if it would survive the retopology and to be honest, I was also a little bit afraid to destroy my sculpt :spin: Also I have close to zero knowledge about anatomy and therefore apologize if it looks like crap

All critique and tips are welcome !

Mathieu

My first try at retopology. Trying my best to understand edge flow. It is soooo slow, but I kind of enjoy the progress :o

Are there any big mistakes?

Does anyone have pointers for the tricky parts? Like the gills…

If you want to open his mouth, it’s important to add edge flow around that area for good deformations. As for gills, inset a few strips of polygons, extrude them in and you got it. Hope it helps.

Great ! Thanks for the tips. I will try that tomorrow

Is this better for the mouth? I made the gills, they turn out pretty good with a subsurf but I have no idea if the topology is decent…
There are also some parts that look weird (talking about the edge flow) but I have no idea how to improve that.
