Wolf Character

Hey BA! It’s been awhile since my last WIP thread, and this time I have another character, a stylized wolf. I plan on using him in a movie project I have in store, but I’m not going to make an official thread for that yet - not until I finish my short film, CHIP (Polaris spaceship thread.) Anyway, here’s where he is so far:

I think the fur is decent, though I want to give it a more “rugged” look (because he’s going to be a soldier.) And the other things still to do…

  1. Model the mouth interior
  2. Finish materials
  3. Model him some weapons, and perhaps clothing (he is somewhat humanoid.)

Don’t know when I’ll have time to do this, but hopefully I’ll be able to finish the spaceship project before too long.

Only thing I could suggest is that his head is way too pointed forward. Like E.T. or something… hahah! Like in this pic:

Great job with the body though!

This sorta reminds me of Fantastic Mister Fox

I agree with the head comment being to elongated. The fur is actually pretty nice, perhaps having some length variation like longer on the belly and such. As far as this being a wolf, well, to be honest, it doesn’t entirely look like one. It also reminds me of a character in Zelda Windwaker. So this is pretty cool

Keep up the good work
Cheers!

Wow, you are right about the head! I guess I was going for that kind of look but maybe I pushed it to an extreme…oh well. Here’s a slightly adjusted version:

Also keep in mind that I am going to be making several variants of this guy via duplication and reshaping.

@Owldude
That’s an improvement, but not much of one…
Still looks like E.T.
Keep going!

It’s about time for an update. Yesterday I tediously rigged him, but had some fun in the process. Today I made a walk cycle which turned out better than i had hoped for! Let me know what you all think.

looks cool man, I like the walk cycle. Ive been trying to learn rigging but have only given it meager attempts to say the least haha, kudos man

Thanks. The rigging techniques I used were based off of the Big Buck Bunny skeleton. If you haven’t already you should check it out, there’s a lot of valuable things to be learned there.
