First time posting, been browsing and admiring the work all over the forum and, after a suggestion from my 3D modeling instructor, decided to post something I’ve been modeling for a few weeks now to get some feedback on.
I present my model of the German WWII blueprint tank, the Löwe “Lion”. I’ve modeled this tank for a scene that I’m doing in the semester long course that I’m taking on 3D modeling. I’ll skip the history, not that there is much history to it as it was only a rough blueprint, which leaves much to be decided on.
I’d love to have feedback on everything and anything at all, as this tank will be a main point in my scene. I’m planning on giving the material some wear and tear as well as a camouflage pattern once I get to working with materials more.
Good start - a long way to go, I shall watch with interest. One point though - the tank tracks would not drop behind the front drive gear as you have it - can you post the reference images for me to look at please.
How so exactly? If you mean lining the slots in the tracks up with the gear teeth, I might at a later date but I have other pieces of the scene to model. If you mean wear and tear on the tracks, I’ll do my best to do that with materials when I get further into them.
Heavier one before the redesign. Correct, none were built as were most German WWII tanks, it was simply a thought on paper (P.1000 Ratte I’m looking at you)
Okay, back again with a small update to the materials and the model. After looking at feedback, I decided to redo the tracks as I had already applied both modifiers to the tracks. Having said that, the tracks are a new model and fit a bit better to the drive sprocket. If anyone has suggestions on how to improve this aspect I’d love to hear it. Along with the new tracks, I realized that I needed a easier way to apply the material since I want there to be wear and tear on the tracks, so this is the first step towards better looking tracks.
