I have no problem with selecting world and set surface to backdrop and entering color channel to add an textured environment, but I thought node control of that was possible, but I do not have any use nodes option to hit and enter under world/surface…I suspect it is a setting in preferences or a shortcut I may have forgotten?

@MI65 if you select the section where it says none you can then select background to then add environment or other nodes. Or you can always open up the node editor and add them manually. It looks as though somehow the background got removed which will make it look as though yours does in the world settings.

Thanks for trying to help flyingbanana, I knew all that…but it only gives access to that through the main settings, it isn´t "true nodes and not acessable within the node editor.
And it doesn´t explain why use nodes isn´t available.

No…that isn´t it…I got the options you described, it was just that it doesn´t show up in node editor.
must have missed to set the type of data to take shader from in the menu and set the corresponding world link…may need to record this for others, but the node connection doesn´t show the environment…even if it is connected to the surface node material output.
I got it working now…some things I need to go through to properly describe the workflow errors.
Nevermind the actual scene and the too large fire and smoke, I am working on that, it´s real scale so quite a huge fluid domain container and more divisions is needed.
